Visit WEEX

WEEX is a derivatives-first crypto exchange built for one thing: trading perpetual futures with a lot of leverage. On that narrow measure it’s competent — cheap futures fees, deep liquidity in the majors, and a sprawling coin menu. But the things that make an exchange trustworthy rather than merely functional — real regulation, a clean track record, reliable withdrawals — are exactly where WEEX is weakest. It earns a 3.2: usable by an experienced, risk-aware futures trader who knows what they’re doing, and a poor choice for almost everyone else.

Who WEEX is for — and who should look elsewhere

WEEX fits self-directed, non-US derivatives traders who want low perpetual-futures fees and are comfortable custodying on an offshore venue. If you are a US or UK retail trader, or you want a regulated home for spot holdings, look elsewhere — Coinbase and Kraken lead our crypto category on exactly the trust and compliance dimensions WEEX lacks.

The cost story

WEEX’s pricing is its strongest card. Spot trading runs about 0.1%, while perpetual-futures fees are roughly 0.02% maker / 0.08% taker, dropping further if you hold the exchange’s WXT token. For an active futures trader those are competitive numbers. Just remember that fees are the small cost here; leverage is the big one. Fees & value scores 3.7.

Leverage: the headline is the warning

WEEX advertises leverage up to 400x on select contracts. That is not a feature to chase — it is a near-guarantee of liquidation on ordinary volatility. At 400x, a ~0.25% move against you wipes the position. Treat the top of that range as marketing, size positions on risk, and assume the leverage exists to generate liquidations and fees, not to help you.

Platform and tools

The platform is squarely aimed at contract traders: fast order entry, copy trading, and the perpetuals tooling active users expect, across web and mobile. It’s serviceable rather than class-leading, and the experience is tuned to volume. Platform & tools scores 3.6.

What you can trade

This is where WEEX is genuinely broad — 1,000+ listed cryptocurrencies and a large perpetual-futures selection, with deep books in BTC/USDT and ETH/USDT. For a futures-focused user the coverage is excellent. Tradable assets scores 4.0.

Regulation, trust, and safety

This is the section that should give you pause. WEEX operates offshore with only Money Services Business (MSB) registration, which is an anti-money-laundering formality — not authorization or supervision by a market regulator like the SEC, FCA, or NYDFS. In 2025 a US state authority (the Georgia Department of Banking and Finance) issued a cease-and-desist tied to licensing. Public sentiment is weak, with a poor Trustpilot score and recurring complaints about withdrawals and account restrictions. There is no SIPC/FDIC-style protection, and crypto itself is volatile and largely unregulated. Regulation & trust scores 2.2 — near the bottom of our crypto category, and the main reason for the overall rating.

Risk warning: Crypto and crypto derivatives are highly volatile and largely unregulated. High leverage can wipe out your account within minutes, and you can lose more than you deposit. You can lose your entire investment.

Support and the day-to-day

Onboarding is quick, but support is a common complaint theme — slow or unhelpful responses during disputes, particularly around withdrawals. For a venue where you’re custodying funds offshore, that matters more than usual. Support & experience scores 2.6.

Where WEEX falls short

  • Thin regulation — MSB registration only, plus a 2025 US state cease-and-desist.
  • Weak public trust — poor review scores and withdrawal/restriction complaints.
  • Extreme leverage invites liquidation rather than providing an edge.
  • Not for US/UK retail — no top-tier oversight or asset protection.

Why this score

The 3.2 is the weighted average of the scores above. WEEX rates well on fees and breadth and poorly on trust and support — and for an exchange holding your money, trust carries the day. The rating reflects a capable trading engine wrapped in a weak accountability record.

What to watch

  • Withdraw regularly and don’t leave large balances idle on the venue.
  • Ignore the 400x headline; size on risk, not on maximum leverage.
  • Check current terms — WEEX runs promotional deposit/trading bonuses that carry volume conditions; confirm the details on its own site before relying on them.

Bottom line

WEEX is a low-fee, high-leverage perpetuals venue with a broad coin menu and a weak trust profile. For an experienced offshore futures trader who withdraws often and ignores the leverage marketing, it can work. For US/UK users, spot investors, or anyone who values regulation and reliable support, our regulated category leaders are the safer choice.

Frequently asked questions

Is WEEX available in the US? It is not a fit for US retail traders — WEEX operates offshore with MSB registration only, and faced a 2025 US state cease-and-desist over licensing. US users should use a regulated exchange.

Is WEEX safe? It is functional but carries elevated risk: no top-tier regulator, weak public trust scores, and withdrawal complaints. Never hold more there than you’re prepared to lose, and withdraw often.

What leverage does WEEX offer? Up to 400x on select perpetual futures — an extreme level that makes liquidation likely. Most traders should use a small fraction of that, if any.

How much are WEEX’s fees? Spot is about 0.1%; perpetual futures are roughly 0.02% maker / 0.08% taker, with further discounts for holding WXT.
